anime comments!
Oh well while i'm in the midst of finding pictures as a background image here..might as well throw in some thoughts on the current anime i'm watching
Tears to Tiara:
A RPG-ish anime, with its roots coming from a PC game of the same name. I remembered watch episode 1 and thought it was a very serious-tone anime, but when episode two was aired..the tone of the anime was totally changed! The general plot of the show is that a rebellious clan is going against the empire, and a war is inevitable due to this. Of course it's not as shallow as it sounds..but i want to finish the show before writing a full summary of the show!
K-On!:
Oh man i think this is one of the best comedy anime's i have watched! The show revolves around 4 girls who come together to form a Light Music Club in their school. The music is good, the jokes are good, the pace is good..the show is just good! It's a must watch!
Hayate no Gotoku! S2:
The same characters and cast return from S1, with some new characters, the cat (Shiranui) and more reference to the manga. The artwork seem a bit different though..and i'm a little bit confused with the timeline of this season relative to S1..is there someone out there that can enlighten me on this? =x

Going off to Japan in slightly less than 2 weeks' time for studies..gosh i haven't packed A SINGLE THING..argh! the yen is still so high now..can't change my money too..oh man..i think i need a few days' break from lab soon to settle all my administrative stuffs before my trip.
Coming saturday, there's going to be a junior meet senior session @ sp. It's hard to coordinate when I'm so busy with work, and most people are not responding/replying..sheesh..

Long String of Words
i realised i'm collecting my Clayz Kagami tomorrow..so decided to unpack my other stuff into my cupboard first.
started with the 2 puchi nendoroids - Sun and Lunar. the shipment came last friday..it was so efficient! i was informed that it was shipped on thursday afternoon..and voila..it arrived at my doorstep about 24hrs later! cdjapan is a nice place to shop - many varieties of figurines, dvds, anime merchandise, cds, soundtracks, etc..but i noticed they do not sell games, and neither do they sell magazines (i only managed to find magazine subscriptions..but not single issue mags). shipping wise..the charges are a bit steep..as the cost increment is constant although the weight increment isn't (compared to other companies, whereby the shipping cost increment is proportional to the weight increment)..but my parcel arrived with everything as promised, as well as in perfect condition! ok enough of advertising for them, back to the topic. the 2 nendoroids are cute! but..as with all nendoroids..or most nendoroids..its a hassle to fix them..and with these miniaturised nendoroids..it's even worse - i bruised my thumb trying to fix the stand to the back of Sun's head.
opened up my diformate saber next..the art was nicely done..especially the details on the excalibur. i think the figure was in the box for quite some time..and when i fixed the sword into her hands..it doesnt seem to maintain a perpendicular pose as shown on the box..i should hair-dry it sometime later..hmm..
after that was the tenko kuugen from taki corp..omg its very beautiful! she looks so surreal..quite unlike in the anime. the figure looks much more..feminine and demure..and yes the hair is shiny too! but even for a 1/7 figure..it's..VERY heavy..i think a lot of pvc was used to mould her outfit..my 1/7 horo was very much lighter than her..
the last piece was the nendoroid kyouka..after handling the two puchi nendoroids..kyouka was a much easier task..she fitted perfectly into the legstand in one try. it came with a gekka too..with 2 moveable tentacles..which can act like her hands to do some poses
after all these..i realise my 1/6 hina have nowhere to be placed..hmm..i need my allowance fast to buy a new cupboard!
and sigh..heard news that my jun planning's nagi might not have stocks in the end..dont know if i can still get it anywhere..sigh!

Sun of a New Day
happy cny everyone!
hahaha..ok actually the topic was an item in a game i used to play..just thought that it seems fitting now..planned several major things to do in this coming year! (ok i was lazy to implement at the start of 2009, so let's just use cny as my new start)
to begin with..i decided to maximise the time in school..i had just found a prof for mentorship..going to meet him after the hols..hopefully it will turn out fine!
im planning to do some relief teaching after exams too..felt like experiencing how it's like to teach..as well as get some extra cash to enjoy in japan(that is, if i get my gss)..and for you guys out there who are about to give me funny comments - no i do not plan to be a full-time teacher..lecturer perhaps..as im more of a lab rat (no punt intended)
all these aside..lets continue on some other random stuffs
i can see my grandma's really proud that so far in my generation..all 5 of us who are eligible for uni (age wise) made it into uni..she's really happy when she suddenly commented that she had 5 uni grandchildren - out of which 2 have graduated already. it's a wonderful feeling..to be able to make someone proud of you..
on a more gloomy topic..i could also notice that age has caught up with many of us..on one spectrum my younger cousins all looked and thought more maturely..and the other..signs of aging are really beginning to show on the more elderly relatives..i understand that this is inevitable..but it just felt that..everything seemed so yesterday..sigh..i guess this is the basis for the creation of mad scientists bent on changing the courses of events eh..
and on a final note..a part of me is seriously lost..should i just hold on..or should i just move on? i always thought of human relations as a pair of interwining curves - so now comes the question..if there is a real and unique solution for these 2 curves in the interval [now,infinity)? oh well..if only i knew..things would be easier..

more stuffs!
hur hur..my small shipment of figurines came in today - Taki Corp's Tenko and Griffon Enterprises' Saber!
the story was like this..somehow i couldn't get the tenko in sg..browsed 1999..saw that it was on discount! 45% off! (the last i check there were still stocks..interested parties can have a look) true that the jpy has rose to exorbitant levels..but with this amount of discount, it really IS cheaper than what would be offered here in sg, even if i pay for the shipping charges of just shipping one piece over! (i suppose it's quite obvious that more items = more cost effective shipping..its a linear equation with the y intercept != zero)
so yes w.r.t what i was just explaining, to lighten the load of the shipping charges..i continued to scout for things to buy..then! i saw the deformate saber on discount too! but it was only 30% discount..but hey..with the exchange rate now of 100jpy to sgd1.65, this discount will tally up to 100jpy to sgd1.155! of course this calculation does not include the shipping charges..but yea..overall it's still more cost effective..and the best thing..i got the last piece!
just now when i opened the box..i was surprised to c the box was such a perfect fit! the height of tenko's box was exactly the width of the carton used! the saber box..which is much smaller..is beside it..and paper was used to fill the gaps surrounding the 2 boxes + the top and bottom of them. this actually prevents the contents from moving around a lot - when i opened the box..everything was still fitted nicely..and some force was required to remove the papers before i could remove the 2 boxes. however..personally..i still prefer animaxis's packaging - they used bubble wrap to first wrap around the figurine boxes, and then filled the space with "plastic air pillows"..kinda looks like a sausage but its essentially just plastic and air. although the contents may move around a bit inside the carton..but at least there's plenty of cushion SHOULD THERE BE MISHANDLING..and yes..plastic is much lighter than paper..
ok speaking of which..when i was trying to find out the weight of the 2 figurines to roughly estimate my shipping..i was shocked to find that the tenko is about 500g, as compared to saber, which is around 250g. and true enough..when i tried holding the box..tenko really felt..very much heavier..weirdness..i suppose it's all the plastic needed to mould her outfit
and yea and all these aside..i also got myself a 1/6 kotobukiya hinagiku..decided that since i pre-ordered a nagi..might as well complete it! now im a bit lazy to display them though..think i will do it when i have time tomorrow or during the holidays.

space space space!
ok i spent 2 hrs rearranging my cupboard..hahaha..apparently i managed to create a lot of space!
now i have 1 super packed layer..all the trading figurines are cramped up! lol..but nevertheless i have tons of space for all my nendoroids to come!
i think i shall rearrange my collection list a bit..must subclass them a bit more..too messy..hmm
and oh man..my rozy got a broken wing =(

arrival of stuffs!
oh my! the stuffs arrived in my house today!
i opened the box and got a shock..there's so much bubble wrap and shock absorbers! =DD
my tsukasa turned out perfect, but the rozy's box was a bit dented..but that's cause it's a bit big..so nevertheless..very happy of the packaging!

argh..something happened to my hit counter..its..not..working!
ok that aside..i just found the midi to the insert song of true tears anime, sono mama no boku de (the one used when the guy was chasing hiromi when she decided to move out). its so much nicer listening to the instrumental version as opposed to the voiced version..it sounds much more soothing
received news from kc our shipment have arrived! i hope the space i planned for rozy is enough..not sure how big the base of her dress is..hmm!

first week of school
finally came home from school..really require some adjusting to after 1 month of slacking..didnt get ANY of my electives yet..zzz..but i sat in for two of them..and they sounded pretty interesting to me..lets hope some idiot whose holding on to them will drop and allow someone more deserving, in this case, me, to have it!
on tuesday i saw the preorder of mikumiku kagami nendoroid on amiami..and in the afternoon when i accompanied kc down to kknm ask about his mugs..just nice the preorder email came in! argh poisonous..nendoroids are..very..seductive..
and yea, i've been trying to get my hands on luna and sun's nendoroids as well..but they come bundled with the ova special edition dvd's..anyone has any recommendations on where is a good and reliable place to source for it?

2009!
a new year! a new start!
went to countdown at esplanade just now..rocks man the fireworks..especially the finale..it was like consecutive launches of huge radii fireworks..and then amidst all these large explosions there was multitudes of small uber-bright explosions..resembles those airplane vertical scrollers we used to play in arcades..when the boss of the level is defeated..it usually explodes in that manner! or perhaps to a more recent note..leshrac's diabolic edict?
but..i..did..not..bring..my..camera =(
and this also means one other thing..4 more days to school.. -.-
